Suicide Bereavement Clinician Training

This training will provide a focused overview of the impact of suicide on survivors, and the clinical and support responses that are needed after a suicide occurs. The workshop will include didactic presentation, group discussion, case examples from the presenter’s practice, and video clips from grief therapy sessions.

Off-Site Workshop: Complicated Grief and its Treatment

CG is a debilitating bereavement-related condition diagnosed as an adjustment disorder in DSM-5. In this one-day workshop, Dr. M. Katherine Shear focuses primarily on how to identify and evaluate people with CG and how to facilitate natural processes of adaptation to loss. Dr. Shear will introduce participants to the principles and procedures used in Complicated Grief Treatment (CGT), the time-limited, targeted psychotherapy that has been tested and proven efficacious in three large NIMH-funded randomized controlled trials.
